“Dear John” stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, in a romantic movie directed by Lasse Hallstrom (he directed “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and “My Life As A Dog”). Adapted from a novel by best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, “Dear John” tells the story of Tatum as a soldier who is back home on leave. That’s when he first meets a college girl, named Savannah (who’s played by Seyfried). The kids fall in love, even though neither one of them is looking for it. But suddenly the 9-11 attacks on America occur. Channing Tatum gets torn between his feelings for Savannah and what his loyalty to the nation. There is tons of heartbreak and drama in “Dear John”. And there’s a great supporting cast that includes Richard Jenkins as John’s father, and Henry Thomas as a single father. Hallstrom’s skill with the actors makes “Dear John” a movie for the ages.
